I had the second interview with the hiring manager and I thought it went positively, and he even said this would be a good fit for me, but the next day I receive a rejection email. It was confusing because of the wording, and it was a lazy of HR to put so little thought in the process. The next week HR literally copies and pastes the initial interview request email to schedule the second interview. But you should know the benefits, it's a part of the job offer. For me personally, I know you won't know what the workload is like for the accounting team, so I'd save that for the hiring manager. She said that she's used to interviewees asking questions about the job instead of the benefits. ![]() During the phone screen I asked what were the benefits and she could not answer. I applied online and HR sent an email to have a phone screen. I applied online. I interviewed at Accordion in Apr 2021 Interview Btw, the H1B salary database has very specific salary info. Overall, it's an amazing opportunity if you want to stay in traditional finance/consulting and work on interesting projects, but it's not for those who are doing the quintessential finance/consulting for 2-3 years => strategic finance in tech transition at all. FWIW, there's nothing wrong with that, but just not aligned with my personal preference. You can also tell, because the senior managers mostly come from traditional finance/consulting backgrounds, they don't get why millennials and Gen-Z prefer remote/hybrid instead of five days in the office every week. sales and trading at a bulge bracket, buy side investment jobs in diff asset classes). For example, they pretty much only want to hire people with IBD/PE backgrounds, and aren't very open-minded to those who worked in other prestigious front office finance functions (e.g. In other words, I can tell from just one round of HR interview that, similar to traditional finance/consulting firms, they care A LOT about the "on paper" stuff that tech companies don't care as much about. It's not going to have the kind of culture that FAANG has if that's what you are going for. However, Accordion at its essence is still very much of a "traditional" finance/consulting firm. I stumbled upon this opening while looking for strategic finance/corp strategy roles at large tech companies, and thought this would be an interesting opportunity. I have no doubt that Accordion is an amazing place to work at and a great place to grow. I applied online. I interviewed at Accordion Interview Of my total interviews in finance only 4/13 interviewers were women. You have to wonder if they really are working on diversity and inclusion. It’s kind of disappointing that all the private equity interviews I’ve been getting have been 100% with men. Like I said, very disappointed because the company culture seems so great, but you win some you lose some. I thought that was kind of rude because I handle so much systems accounting. The feedback I received was that I didn’t have enough accounting systems experience, but I’m a general ledger ops AVP at a bank FP&A dept and they said they thought I’d need hand holding. I would’ve been happy to take the pay cut because I thought private equity work would be great to learn. During recruitment, they said if I was willing to come in as an analyst, at a lower pay scale than my current role, I could be considered. I was fairly disappointed they didn’t move forward with me. He took long pauses to think of questions to ask and didn’t seem very prepared, so I tried to help him out by asking him if he wanted me to talk about certain things. The interviewer seemed super bored so it made me kind of nervous. ![]()
